Brett and I turned thirty-one this month. We got to celebrate it together at Tucanos. It was our first date since having the baby. We don't get to go out together often and whenever we do it is so refreshing to remember ourselves. Not ourselves as slobbered-on-Mommy and sixty-hour-week-Daddy, but two people facing the world together and trying to stay above water and in love. We need to date more. Brett threw me a surprise party on my birthday. It was his successful attempt to make up for a botched and upsetting misunderstanding on my thirtieth birthday. Several of our neighbors came and the house was filled with laughter, kids playing, and talking. I do wish I got more pictures, but here's one shot of some of our friends. It was a great night.

First Days of School
I can't believe that Hyrum is in first grade! I still see him as my little man. Some days I don't feel like I'm ready for him to be in full time school, because there is so much more I want to teach him at home. I hope he remembers his manners. What if he gets too tired? What if other kids are mean to him? Does he know how to stand up for himself? Will he remember how to tie his shoes? I hope he doesn't get lost in the crowds of kids and feel alone or scared. I hope my hugs and kisses will hold him over. Will he remember what we taught him about peer pressure and how his words effect other people? I'm sure every parent experiences this and that's why we send him into the unknown anyway. This is his chance to 'test his wings' as an individual. I love him and know he is capable of so many amazing things. I hope his teachers will see the potential that we all see in him.
It was a long day and his brothers missed him a lot. Owen ran up to him the moment he stepped off the bus and gave him a big hug. It was very cute.
Noah started Preschool this year and is very excited about it as you can see in the picture. We were really glad to have him be in the same classroom that Hyrum was in two years ago. It's a new teacher, but Noah was glad that he knew right where to go. When I picked him up today he was busy talking to his teacher. That boy can talk like no other. Give him a minute and he'll give you an hour:) We love his creative mind.
It must be Fall because the sky is A-MAZE-ING! (This picture has not been touched up at all. These colors are real and were even more vivid in person.)
More Fun!
One of our favorite activities this summer has been going up to the canyon. Hopefully we'll still make time for trips up there before it gets to cold.
Last Hoorah!
With summer days coming to an end we tried to fit in as much fun stuff before school started as we could. The boys love anything that has to do with water so we visited Noah's Ark at Thanksgiving Point. It was so fun, and later there was some wrestling at the park with a picnic.

Our Home
"Hey Brett, remember that time that we decided to move and sell our house with a two week old? We found an amazing spec home in a great area that we fell in love with. We decided to put our house up for sale and have it ready to show when we went on vacation. About two weeks later is was under contract. We loved picking things out for our new home and planning out what we would do with more space and a bigger yard. Then our buyer backed out. After putting the house back on the market we realized that keeping the house in perfect condition with a newborn and three crazy boys in the summer was just not working. I had a couple of exhaustion meltdowns and you helped calm me down. Then we decided that our family and getting ready for school was more important than a new home right now. We were both a bit sad about losing the spec home but we feel like we both learned some valuable lessons and are more prepared for a move when it does happen. That was pretty crazy, huh? Sometimes we are crazy."
I love our view. I will probably miss this view more than anything else when we end up moving.
