Five and Dodo

On Friday I volunteered to clean the temple from 6-10pm. I was really excited, because I've never done it before, and it was fulfilling one of my Young Women experiences. Before I left Brett said, "We might have a hampster when you get back". So, the whole time I was there I kept thinking about hampsters and how I didn't want one, and wondering if its possible to return an animal. . .you can't really say 'it didn't fit' or 'the color didn't match'. When I got home I was relieved to find two cute Betta fish on our dining table. Thank you Brett for not getting a hampster. . . I just don't think I could handle three un-potty trained little friends in the house! Anyway, Hyrum named them 'Five' (He likes to name everyone 'Five') So we let Hyrum keep Five as one name and Noah named the other fish "Dodo", because everything to him (other than Momma, Dadda, and dip) is called Dodo. Welcome slippery friends to our family!
A lovely conversation and breakfast with Five and Dodo:We're having yard mania lately. We've done a ton of work on our front yard (I'll post pictures later). Our next big job is the back yard (I cringe just to think of it). In order to not go crazy I really wanted to do a simpler planting project, so I could feel like something was totally done. I'm very proud to show you the planter boxes on our deck which are full of parsley and lemon balm. I'm SOOO excited to put them fresh in our food. We also planted a nice strawberry plant. We may never get any fruit from it because Hyrum likes to eat anything on it that remotely looks like a strawberry. . .we'll have to work on that one:) (The cute little blue flowers are going in our front yard)I caught this picture of the boys, they were laughing and tickling each other in 'Noah's' seat. This picture just makes me so happy. I want to stare at it forever. I love my boys!

Where did Hyrum go?

Tonight we put the boys down for bed like usual. Noah went to sleep at 7:30 and an hour later Brett put Hyrum in his bed and all was quiet. We've loved having them share a room. It was hard the first couple of weeks, but we're glad we decided to put them together. They will frequently talk or play together in the morning when they wake up. It's been a good bonding time for them. Anyway, later tonight I went in to check on them like usual. Hyrum was not in his bed! For a second my heart stopped. I turned around and looked to make sure Noah was still there and saw this:Yes, they were both completely out. I ran downstairs and told Brett that he had to come see quick, and with a camera we were able to capture it. We love our boys! I'll have to remember this moment the next time they're trying to kill each other:).

It was taken from my phone, so it's not the best picture, but I just LOVE the Lowe's car carts!P.S.: A little before midnight Hyrum came into our room whimpering and through sobbs said, "trying snuggle in crib" He was so sad, I'm guessing Noah rolled over on him or something. After getting them both a drink and changing a diaper they went back to sleep in their own beds:)

Baby Shower

Well, not all of you know that I was recently called to serve at church with the Young Women. I'm really excited about hanging out with and teaching these girls. One of the best parts about the whole thing is to be able to do my Personal Progress again. I loved working on PP as a Young Women, although I didn't care for the medallion at all, so I promptly lost it, threw it away, or. . . somehow it disappeared. I've resolved to regain a medallion by completing all of the experiences and projects for each value. So, I'll post something whenever I complete one. Today I completed my first project (Good Works) which also happened to be Naomi's baby shower. I'm SOOOO excited for her to have a little girl! Here are just a few pictures of the event:
