Happy Mesa, Snotty Shirt

This last weekend we wanted to go down to Mesa to introduce Hyrum to his newest 'cousin' at her blessing, (Or, in Jaclyn's words:"his future wife") and check out the housing market. Yes. . . Brett's graduating in one year and we'll be moving down to Brett's 'homeland'. The weekend was a bit of a whirlwind, but a lot of fun. Day one consisted of haircuts with the family and houses with our realtor. We didn't imagine that four hours would go by so quickly looking at homes. Luckily, Grandma Partridge watched Hyrum so that the four hours weren't dragging on. We saw some good homes, and have our favorite, but we're not making any decisions for a while longer. That night we had dinner with the family where Bryson (our nephew) explained very matter-of-factly to me why we could only by a house with as many rooms as we had kids. I love six year old perspectives. On Saturday we went to little Breelyn's blessing. She's such a cutie, and so little!! The blessing was beautiful(and Jaclyn, the waiting time was fun!). Before the blessing Hyrum got to play with all his buddies. It was during this time that we realized that Hyrum has a serious toe fettish. We've known that Hyrum likes sucking on his own toes, we just didn't think it was toes in general. There were a bunch of kids on the ground, and he would cross any obstacle to get a little nibble on anyone's toes. For a while we thought he was just sucking on them, until we saw little teeth marks on an innocent foot. We're raising a canabul! Let's hope this fettish doesn't last long. It was great seeing little Micah too. He looks just like Derek, eyebrows and all:) We feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family! Overall the trip was just wonderful. . .and then came the trip back. Our flight left at 8:05 am! (I hate mornings) The night before Hyrum decided to get sick. I stayed up and rocked him until 2am, and then had to get up at 5:30. My body stopped getting used to no sleep once Hyrum started sleeping 12 hours a night. We were all tired, but we managed to get out the door on time. On the shuttle to the airport Hyrum threw up. We changed his clothes quickly before we got to the airport. We had to throw away his sippy cup at security, because we forgot to dump out the water in it. We got on the plane. Hyrum threw up again. We didn't have a third outfit. His pants were the worst, so those came off. We let him chew on a teething biscuit (for those of you who have never dealt with teething biscuits: they're a great distraction, but by the end your child will look as though they've just been in a sticky mud bath) he wasn't feeling well, so he kept cuddling with me, which means I had teething biscuit mush all over my clothes and he likes to wipe his nose on my right shoulder for some reason. He had a big explosion in his diaper that we had to change in our seat in fear that other passengers might throw us off the plane. By the time we got to Salt Lake I felt like everyone was staring at me like a bad mother off the streets. My ponytail was now falling out, I had junk all over my clothes, and I was holding a super dirty child wearing only a onesie in thirty degree weather. Somehow Brett looked pretty normal. Lesson learned: don't travel tired, bring three outfits for the baby and an extra shirt for me.
