End of June

Did this month really just happen. . . I can't believe it's almost July! Crazy! Well, since we've been back home its been hot. Our swamp cooler was broken and by the end of the day the upstairs felt like a sauna. I was extremely happy when the guy came by to fix it today. . .ahhh, cool air is good. Update on New Moon; I like this book much better than Twilight. I also like Jacob Black as a boyfriend (pre- 'incident') much more than I ever liked Edward. I don't know about everyone else that's read the books, but I think Edward can be kind of mushy and Jacob was just fun. Anyway, here's some pictures to remind you all how stinkin' cute Hyrum is.

Hyrum's secret hiding place he always go to.
We spent a lot of time downstairs because it was a little bit cooler. We had the air mattress set up and toys for Hyrum to play with including Dad's hat.
Lately whenever we go outside he always goes straight for the very back of the yard and just walks against the fence staring at the balls and trampoline in the yard behind us. . . he just wants to have fun all the time.

More goodness!

Ok, I know I said I would post more Hawaii pictures when I got back. . . but then I found Twilight, and I have been preoccupied. And for all those who haven't already read Twilight; the ending will frustrate you beyond belief and you'll need to be prepared for the sequel immediately! Anyway. We'll be getting the scuba and surfing pictures back 4th of July weekend. For now I thought I'd show you some super cute Hyrum pictures and Hawaii views.

ALOHA!!!

These past two weeks have been so great! Brett and I both had the vacation bug and this has hit the spot. I'll be posting more pictures once we get home, but I figured I had to post something now or else the later post will be way too long.
It's been a really relaxing trip. We've been staying on the Kaanapali Beach in Maui, which is just amazing. These are some of the highlights from the first week; Parasailing, laying out, snorkeling, laying out, surfing, laying out and Brett went horseback riding (and layed out). I've gotten pretty tan, but Brett puts me to shame. . . it's no fair that he tans so well. This week Brett went scuba diving and we survived the trip to Hana (3 hours one way,56 one-lane bridges and 617 curves).
Hyrum was pretty scared of the waves at the ocean and the cold water at the pool, but he's doing great now. He really loves the pool now. He splashes and pretend swims when we hold him on his stomach. It's SOOOO cute!! The ocean is still a little bit scary for him, but it's gotten better. The thing Hyrum has enjoyed the most is playing with all his cousins. He's had tons of fun.

Done

This last Sunday I was released from being the Relief Society President in our ward. I've had some mixed feelings and emotions about it for the past couple of weeks. Part of me is really sad to be done, because it's been such a major part of my life for the past two years. I'm comfortable with the calling and feel like I finally had things under control (which is usually a sign that it's time to be released). Because I received the calling just a few months after we got married it's become part of my married life identity. So, basically things will just be different. The great part about being released I'm already feeling. I can breath! I am no longer constantly worrying and stressed about all the women and welfare in the ward. It's the end of the month and I'm not even thinking about VT reports or how we're going to get meals to the two moms due this week. Anyway, with that change things will be a little less crazy and stressful in our home. I'm excited to reclaim my Sundays and enjoy the Sabath.
Anyway, in other news we're leaving for Hawaii on Saturday! YAYYYY! I'm glad I can really enjoy this vacation and not have to bring all my RS stuff with me. I'll be sure to post some pictures at some point while we're there.
Hyrum started doing this weird yelling thing yesterday, and he hasn't stopped doing it. It's so funny! It's like the famous 'Home Alone' yell. We recorded it a little bit last night. I'll put the video on later today.

Part two, plus some

So, I finished the wall, took the tape off, and . . . I love it, but the pink isn't looking any less pink. . . some plans should probably actually go through a planning phase, but I'm too impulsive. Anyway, the next three walls will be a little more planned out with squares, triangles, and diamond shapes. I'll let you know how it goes.

Here are some other pictures from the weekend. Hyrum's first swim in our little yard pool and Hyrum's first lasagna experience.

While you were sleeping. . . to be continued

I've had a renewed excitement to get things done since the Bishop came by on Thursday night (I'll tell you why later). My first project is going to be tackling Hyrum's play room, aka: the pink room. Pink is a great color for someone with girls, which is who lived here before, but not so much for our little boy. I had an idea during afternoon nap time, so I grabbed the blue tape, our little cheerios container, and an x-acto knife and started making this design. We already got some paint a while ago so I was able to get the wall painted tonight once Hyrum fell asleep. I'll let you know how it turns out. Stay tuned.

A new day and a new old house

We moved! . . . ok, so we only moved three blocks away, but still it's the same amount of work. We're now in a house with carpet (Hyrum's knees are rejoicing) and more room to spread out. It's moving that really makes you realize how much junk you collect. Our trash load last week was quite a bit greater than usual, and we were very happy that the YW in our ward are having a yard sale, so it saved us a trip to DI. Brett's family was in town for graduation (I'll get to that in a minute) so they helped a TON. Thank you Partridges! We just have a few boxes to go through and a countertop of random stuff we need to find homes for. Yeah!
Sadly, Hyrum's been sick again this past week. The Dr. said "Hyrum has hand, foot, mouth disease." . . .ok, great I'm glad to know he's diseased, what are we supposed to do about it. I was not super satisfied with our fill-in Dr. Anyway, after looking it up online and talking to my mom I found out it's fairly common and it's actually a virus. He stopped throwing up, but now just has a hacking cough. The poor little man has been sick 4 times in the past two months!
Now the exciting news: BRETT GRADUATED!!! Woohoooo!! Now he just has one year left before he finishes his Masters Degree and then were off to Mesa. Here are some pictures of graduation and just some other stuff:
